Fort Clatsop
Fort Clatsop was the settlement of the Lewis and Clark expedition near the Columbia River during the winter of 1805-1806. Fort Clatsop was named after the local Indians called the Clatsop. Construction of this fort began December 9th, and the captains got into there rooms only 2 days before Christmas. Trading was very poor at this fort compared to there fort on the great plains. The fort was open to trading only 24 days of the winter. Fort Clatsop was the last settlement of Lewis and Clark before departing home.
